Women's Basketball Routs Medgar Evers 99-44

Senior Jamecia Forsythe and junior Tyana Hale both fell four assists shy of recording a triple-double in the Bloodhounds, 99-44, win at Medgar Evers on Tuesday evening. With the conference win, John Jay improves to 4-8 (2-3 in CUNYAC) on the season while the Cougars drop to 2-11 (0-5 in CUNYAC).

Hale started the scoring on the first play of the game, after receiving a pass from Forsythe. John Jay went on to score the first 18 points of the match. Halfway through the first half, the Bloodhounds led by 21. Later on, John Jay increased the lead as the Bloodhounds outscored Medgar Evers, 53-12, in the first half.

Forsythe finished with a game-high 24 points, on 11-of-16 shooting, and 16 rebounds (8 offensive) to go along with six assists, two steals and one block. Hale recorded 19 points, on 7-of-13 shooting, 11 rebounds, six assists, one block, and one steal. Freshman Jennifer Walsh poured in 12 points and a team-high three steals off the bench. Junior Amanda Jimenez added 10 rebounds and two steals. Junior Aneska Tejada registered eight points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

Nia Tompkins scored 18 of the Cougars 44 points. Kimonia Mullings recorded 12 points and five rebounds.

"Tonight we shot the ball real well," head coach Diane Ramirez said. "Hopefully we can carry this momentum to Friday's tough match."

The Bloodhounds will return to the Doghouse for a conference match against Brooklyn College on Friday, January 10 at 5:00pm.
