The women's swim team won its first meet of the season, 52-43, against conference opponent Lehman College on Tuesday evening at the John Jay Pool. The Bloodhounds start the season 1-0 (1-0 in CUNYAC) and the Lightning fall to 0-1 (0-1 in CUNYAC).
 
The Bloodhounds took home first place in eight of the 11 swim events for the evening. Freshman standout Bokey Wong touched first in three events for John Jay, which were the 200 yard Individual Medley (2:33.74), the 100 yard Butterfly (1:11.30) and the 100 yard Breaststroke (1:20.29). Fellow teammate and distance swimmer Alyssa DeVito placed first in two events for the Bloodhounds. In the 1000 yard Freestyle, DeVito finished with an impressive time of 13:29.81 and in the 500 yard Freestyle, she touched first in 6:39.15.

Freshman Melissa Cornelio picked up a first place finish, swimming the 200 yard Freestyle in 2:38.20. Veteran swimmer Kaylie Bruce also picked up a first place finish for the Bloodhounds as she finished the 100 yard Backstroke with a time of 1:12.58.

John Jay and Lehman battled point for point in each event until the final event, which was the 200 yard Freestyle Relay. John Jay's Cornelio, DeVito, Bruce and Jenell Stott-Hodge competed against two lanes of Lehman swimmers, but the Bloodhounds came out on top as they finished with a time of 2:04.52. This gave John Jay a seven point advantage, helping them cruise to a 52-43 victory.

The Bloodhounds look to extend their win streak as they take on Brooklyn College on Thursday, November 13 at 6:00pm at the John Jay Pool.
