The women's basketball team fell to Ithaca College, 80-40, on Friday afternoon in Grantham, PA as part of the Hampton Inn Tip-Off Classic. The Bloodhounds fall to 0-2 on the season while the Bombers improve to 2-0.
Junior
Brianna Cunningham led the Bloodhounds with a double-double. The transfer recorded 16 points, shooting 6-for-10 from the field, with 10 rebounds and four assists. Senior
Amanda Jimenez picked up eight points and three steals and junior
Terri Chu dished out four assists. Senior
Aneska Tejada had four steals and four rebounds. Sophomore
Josephine Diaz added six points off the bench.
For much of the first half, the game was close with both teams exchanging baskets. With eight minutes left in the half, the Bloodhounds trailed by four, 18-14. However, Ithaca ended the half on a 6-0 run to head into the halftime leading, 37-24.
Five minutes into the second half, the Bombers increased their lead to 20. Ithaca would go on to take the first game of the tournament by a final score of 80-40.
John Jay went 16-46 (34.8%) from the field and 2-for-18 (11.1%) from behind the arc.
The Bloodhounds will face the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg in a consolation game on Saturday, November 22m at 12pm.
