Box Score 2 The softball team lost its first two games of the season, 6-0 and 8-0, on Tuesday afternoon in Camden, NJ. The Scarlet Raptors improve to 2-0 on the season.Â
In game one, Rutgers-Newark's Brittany Scott threw a no-hitter, allowing only one walk and struck out 16. The only Bloodhound to reach base was junior
Jessica Zaccari.Â
Junior
Sara McKenna got the start for the Bloodhounds and pitched a complete game. The White Plains native allowed seven hits, six runs (two earned), and three walks.Â
Scarlet Raptors' Tabby Dick went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Krystine Rice finished the day 2-for-3 and drove in a run.Â
Much like game one, the Bloodhounds were not able to get anything going offensively in game two. Rutgers-Newark's Allyson Potts and Sydney Allen pitched a combined one-hitter. The duo walked five and struck out four.Â
Senior
Marlin Rallas picked up John Jay's lone hit and
Danielle Minaya drew two walks.Â
Senior
Lana Kovac started for the Bloodhounds and McKenna finished in relief. Koval allowed two earned runs and McKenna gave up two hits and one run.Â
Scarlet Raiders' Scott drove in three runs and Cait Eltzholtz recorded two hits and two runs scored.Â
The Bloodhounds will have their home opener on Friday, March 14, when they host St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn at 3:00pm for a doubleheader.Â
