Box Score
The baseball team lost to Stevens Institute of Technology, 13-1, on Friday afternoon in Hoboken, NJ. The Bloodhounds start the season 0-1 overall. The Ducks improve to 3-0 on the season and 3-0 in the conference.Â
The Ducks opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning on a two-out RBI single. In the third inning, the hosts increased the lead to 5-0 on back-to-back homers.Â
The Bloodhounds got on the scoreboard when senior
Corry Harper doubled down the left field line with one out. Junior
Nestor Amarante drove him home on a RBI double to right center. Unfortunately, that was all the Bloodhounds were able to do.Â
Stevens Tech would tack on two runs in the 5th and 7th innings. In their final frame, the home team added three runs to take the conference game by a score of 13-1.Â
Amarante finished with two hits, one RBI, and threw out a base runner behind the plate. Harper, who scored the only run, tossed four innings and gave up nine hits, five runs (four earned), one walk, and struck out one. Sophomore
Esteban Soler swiped a bag for the Bloodhounds.Â
Stevens Tech's Peirce Marston threw three shutout innings. Dan Allen went 3-for-5 with three RBI's. Zeph Walters hit a homerun and picked up three hits.Â
The Bloodhounds will be back at it on Saturday, March 8, at 7:00pm when they face US Merchant Marine Academy.Â
