Baseball Drops Game to US Merchant Marine Academy

The baseball team fell to US Merchant Marine Academy, 4-1, on Saturday night in Long Island, NY. The Bloodhounds drop to 0-2 on the season and 0-1 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Mariners improve to 3-2 overall. 

Senior Nico Rivera got the start for the Bloodhounds and had a solid start. He logged four innings, allowing three runs (one earned), five hits, two walks, and struck out three. Freshman Michael Wang made his collegiate career and threw three shutout innings while only allowing one hit. 

Offensively, John Jay recorded seven hits with Rivera recording two of them. With the Bloodhounds down 3-0 in the top of the 5th inning, R.J. Davila led off with a walk and then stole second. Later on in the inning, senior Corry Harper drove home Davila with an RBI single to break the shutout. The Mariners tacked on another run to take the victory, 4-1. 

The Bloodhounds will look for revenge on Friday, March 14, when they face the Mariners for a doubleheader starting at 12:00pm.
