The baseball team fell to Western Connecticut, 22-7, on Thursday evening in Danbury, Connecticut. The Bloodhounds drop to 3-14 on the season while the Colonials improve to 10-7 overall.

John Jay took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning as sophomore Esteban Soler led off the game with a single. He stole second and would score on an RBI double by freshman R.J. Davila. Western Connecticut would respond right away, pounding out 11 runs on 11 hits to lead 11-1.

John Jay fought back to cut the deficit to six in the second inning. Soler and Davila recorded RBI singles and senior Nico Rivera drove in both with a two-run single. Unfortunately, the Colonials scored 11 more runs to give them a 22-7 nonconference win.

Davila finished the day going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI's and two runs scored. Freshman Jason Gonzalez and junior Shaun Gutkin both picked up a combined four hits and three stolen bases. Soler registered a hit, one RBI, two runs, and a stolen base.

Western Connecticut's EJ Lavoie went a perfect 6-for-6 with two RBI's and four runs scored. Peter Nanos had three hits and five RBI's.

The Bloodhounds have back-to-back doubleheaders this weekend, starting with CSI on Saturday, April 12. First pitch is schedule for 12pm.
