The softball team split with Baruch College (9-4, 2-1) in a conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at Randall's Island Field 12. The Bloodhounds improve to 6-13 on the season and 3-6 in CUNYAC. The Bearcats improve to 2-10 on the season and 2-6 in CUNYAC.

The Bloodhounds took the first game 9-4, before falling short as Baruch held on to take the second game, 2-1.

In game one, Baruch jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first inning, but John Jay would go on to control the rest of the game scoring three runs in the third inning, two runs in the fourth, one run in the fifth inning and two in the sixth. The Bloodhounds pounded out 11 hits in the game.

McKenna picked up her fifth win of the season for the Bloodhounds as she went the distance with a season high 6 strikeouts. The junior hurler gave up four runs on five hits and walked none.

In game two, Baruch took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning before tacking on another run in the fourth to take the lead 2-0. The Bloodhounds would attempt a come-back in the top of the sixth as Pace walked and then scored on a single up the middle off the bat of senior
Marlin Rallas. Freshman
Danielle Minaya would then lace a single to left field, but was left on base later in the inning.
Rallas went 2-3 with the only run batted in of game two, while Varela, McKenna, Minaya and
Jessica Zaccari each had one hit.

Lana Kovac suffered the game two loss giving up two runs, one earned, on three hits in three innings of work.

The Bloodhounds are back in action today at home as they host their rescheduled conference game against York College starting at 3:30pm, before they take on St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn for a single non-conference game starting at 5:30pm. John Jay will host both games at Padavan Preller Fields.
