Box Score 2 The softball team lost two games to the College of Mount Saint Vincent, 8-3 and 14-5, on Wednesday afternoon on the campus of the College of Staten Island. The Bloodhounds drop to 7-16 on the season. The Dolphins improve to 21-4 overall.
In game one, Mount Saint Vincent scored in the first inning but the Bloodhounds tied it up in the bottom of the second on a RBI double by junior
Sara McKenna. The guests then scored four in the third and one in the fourth to lead 6-1.
In the bottom half of the inning, the Bloodhounds scored two unearned runs on two errors to cut the deficit to three. However, the Dolphins would plate one in the fifth and one in the sixth to take game one by a score of 8-3.
Senior
Lana Kovac finished the game going 2-for-3. McKenna and freshman
Danielle Minaya picked up the other two hits. On the hill, Kovac tossed four innings and struck out one.
Just like game one, the Dolphins opened the scoring in the first inning and once again, John Jay tied it on a RBI single by Minaya.
Mount Saint Vincent would break open the game in the third and fourth innings when they scored three and seven runs, respectively. In the bottom of the fifth, the Bloodhounds scored four runs on two two-run singles by Minaya and junior
Jessica Zaccari. However, the guests won game two by a score of 14-5.
Minaya, senior
Kalyssa Daley, and freshman
Jennifer Pace collected two hits each. Minaya finished with three RBI's and Zaccari had two. McKenna pitched a complete game and struck out two.
The Bloodhounds will head to St. Joseph's College Brooklyn on Thursday, April 17, for a doubleheader starting at 2:00pm.
