Box Score 2 The softball team lost to St. Joseph's College Brooklyn in game one, 7-6, but then rebounded to win game two, 7-2. The Bloodhounds are now 8-17 on the season while the Bears are 7-11.
In game one, St. Joseph's jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the bottom of the second after recording six hits in the inning. In the top of the third, the Bloodhounds responded by scoring four runs and cutting the deficit to one.
Senior
Kalyssa Daley tripled in junior
Jocelyn Ocasio. Freshman
Jennifer Pace followed by driving home Daley on a RBI groundout. Senior
Marlin Rallas and junior
Jennifer Varela then singled to create first and second. Freshman
Danielle Minaya singled to center to score Rallas and two batters later, junior
Sara McKenna recorded an RBI single.
In the following frame, Daley tripled home Ocasio to tie the game at five a piece. The Bears regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth on a two-out two-run single.
In the last inning, McKenna picked up an RBI groundout to cut the Bears' lead to 7-6. However, John Jay could not tie the game and would fall in game one.
Daley and Minaya picked up two hits each. McKenna registered two RBI's and Varela swiped a base. Junior
Jessica Zaccari finished the game going 0-for-0 with three walks.
On the mound, Kovac tossed a complete game, allowing two earned runs, while striking out five.
In game two, the Bloodhounds opened the scoring by putting up a combined seven runs in the first two innings. In the first, Pace and Minaya both recorded RBI singles, followed by a two-run double by McKenna.
In the second inning, Daley recorded her first homer of the season. Rallas then drove home Minaya and Pace on a two-out two-run triple to right center.
McKenna got the start for the Bloodhounds and the White Plains native threw a complete game, allowing three hits, two runs (none earned), one walk, and struck out nine to record her seventh win of the season. Daley, Pace, Minaya, and Zaccari had a combined 10 hits, seven runs, and three RBI's. Pace also added three stolen bases.
The Bloodhounds will honor their four exceptional seniors on Friday, April 18, for a doubleheader against NYU-Poly starting at 2:00pm.
