Box Score The baseball team fell to the College of Staten Island, 8-5, on Wednesday night on the campus of CSI.
Pitcher of the Year, CSI's Chris Falcone, went up against sophomore
Matthew Quirindongo. Both pitchers threw a scoreless first inning. In the bottom of the second, the Dolphins scored three runs on four hits to take an early 3-0 lead.
The following inning, Staten Island scored another three runs to increase their lead to six.
Heading into the top of the seventh and the Dolphins leading 8-0, the Bloodhounds got on the board. Senior
Ronald Barillas led off with a single and senior
Nico Rivera drilled a double down the left field line. Junior
Nestor Amarante then drove home Barillas on an RBI ground out.

Alex Depasquale came in relief for Quirindongo and threw three scoreless innings. In the top of the ninth, the Bloodhounds put together a late rally. With two outs, John Jay picked up five straight runs to score four. Amarante, junior
Noel Sanchez, and freshman
R.J. Davila recorded RBI's in the inning. Unfortunately, the Bloodhounds could not score any more runs and fell, 8-5.
Rivera led John Jay with two hits and two stolen bases. Amarante and Davila finished with two RBI's each.
Falcone threw six innings and did not allow a hit or baserunner.
The Bloodhounds will face Baruch College on Thursday with first pitch scheduled for 1:00pm.
