The women's soccer team lost to City College (CCNY) on Wednesday afternoon at Randall's Island. The Bloodhounds fall to 1-5 (0-1 in CUNYAC) on the season while the Beavers improve to 3-1 (1-0 in CUNYAC) overall.
In the opening minutes of the first half, John Jay controlled most of the play in CCNY's end. In the 16th minute, sophomore
Jessica Jean found the ball in the box and netted the first goal of the match. Towards the end of the half, CCNY's Yanique Newman connected on a breakaway to tie the game at 1 apiece.
The Beavers added two goals in the second half to give them their first conference win of the season by a score of 3-1.
Freshman
Kelli Doherty made six saves for the Bloodhounds and fellow freshman
Nicole DiNardo made two. Senior
Stephannie Rengifo registered a team-high three shots and junior
Katelyn Davis recorded with two shots on goal.
Beavers' Newman finished with two goals and one assist.
The Bloodhounds travel to Brooklyn College on Saturday, September 20, for a conference match at 10am.
