The women's soccer team shutout York College, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Randall's Island. The Bloodhounds improve to 2-7-2 on the season and 1-1-2 in the conference. The Cardinals drop to 4-7 overall and 2-4 in CUNYAC.
Less than one minute into the match, John Jay got on the scoreboard as junior
Jessica Jean blasted a shot from outside the box for her second goal of the season.
Asia Shkreli was credited with the assist. Twenty-four minutes later, senior
Katelyn Davis gave the Bloodhounds a 2-0 lead after scoring on a pass from freshman
May Dempsey. It was Davis' second goal of the season.
With three minutes remaining in the half, freshman
Bailey Gillen made a cross in the box to sophomore Camila Vasquez, who tapped it in for her first goal as a Bloodhound. The Bloodhounds dominated the first half as they outshot the Cardinals, 15-2. Senior
Andrea Antoni made one save in the first forty-five minutes.
John Jay controlled the second half as the Bloodhounds held York to one shot. John Jay fired 18 shots in the second half but were unable to find the back of the net.
Davis and junior Maria Daniela Campodonico Rugel finished with five shots and three shots on goal each. Sophomore
Kelli Doherty played the second half in goal.
The Bloodhounds travel to Purchase College on Monday, October 19, for a non-conference match at 7:00 pm.
