Box Score The baseball team defeated St. Joseph's College Long Island, 9-6, on Wednesday evening in Patchogue, NY. The Bloodhounds improve to 3-26 overall. The Golden Eagles drop to 19-14 on the season.
In the top of the second with the game scoreless, John Jay loaded the bases. Junior
Esteban Soler and sophomore
R.J. Davila recorded RBI walks to give the Bloodhounds an early 2-0 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, St. Joe's plated four runs to give the host's their first lead of the night.
In the next inning, junior
Joe Jacobsen delivered a two-out RBI single to right field to cut the deficit to one. Once again, the Golden Eagles responded with two runs of their own to put them in front, 6-3. In the top of the fourth, Soler led off with a double and stole third. Davila drove in Soler on a RBI groundout to give John Jay its fourth run of the game. Later on in the inning, sophomore
Jason Gonzalez registered a bases loaded RBI walk to cut the lead down to 6-5.
Two innings later, sophomore
Brian Cabral singled and advanced to third on a double by senior
Nestor Amarante. With two outs, Jacobsen once again delivered a key two-out two-run single to give the Bloodhounds a 7-6 lead.
In the eighth inning,
Brian Cabral recorded an RBI single and in the next frame,
R.J. Davila picked up an RBI single to give the Bloodhounds a 9-6 victory.
Davila and Jacobsen went 2-for-5 with three RBI's each. Cabral was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Soler had two hits, one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Senior
Michael Fabre threw a complete game, allowing nine hits, five earned runs, and struck out one.
The Bloodhounds will head to Western Connecticut on Thursday, April 30, for a doubleheader at 3 p.m.
