The softball team lost both of its games in the CUNYAC double elimination tournament held on the campus of the College of Staten Island. The Bloodhounds fell to #1 CSI in game one, 3-2, and then lost in an elimination game to #2 Hunter College, 12-1. John Jay ends the season with a 14-21 overall record.
In game one against the Dolphins, the host's scored two runs in the bottom of the first to lead 2-0. In the top of the fifth, senior
Sara McKenna led off with a walk and advanced to third on a single by junior
Jamie Lam. With two outs and runners on second and third, senior
Jocelyn Ocasio delivered a RBI single and a throwing error by CSI allowed Lam to score to tie the game at two apiece.
In the bottom half of the inning, the Dolphins plated an unearned run to lead 3-2. John Jay could not find a way to tie the game in the sixth or seventh innings to fall, 3-2.
McKenna threw six innings, allowing five hits, three runs (one earned), and walked one. Ocasio had a hit and RBI and Lam scored a run and swiped a base.
In an elimination game against the Hawks, Hunter scored four runs in the first. In the top of the third, McKenna led off with a walk and with two outs, sophomore
Danielle Minaya smacked a RBI double off the wall to cut the deficit to 4-1.
The Hawks broke open the game in the fourth by scoring eight runs in the inning to eliminate the Bloodhounds from the playoffs.
