The women's swimming team defeated Brooklyn College, 52-42, on Wednesday night at the John Jay Pool. The Bloodhounds improve to 4-7 overall and 2-4 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Bulldogs drop to 3-8 and 1-5 in the conference.
John Jay's first win came in the third event when senior
Kaylie Bruce swam the 200-yard freestyle in 2:28.89. Freshman
Heather Chrisman followed that up with a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.12. Sophomore
Bokey Wong gave the Bloodhounds the lead after placing first in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:49.36.
After the first break, Chrisman recorded a pair of first-place individual finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.35) and 500-yard freestyle (6:22.34). Bruce and Wong added first-place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke (1:18.04) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:24.32), respectively.
Before the meet, the Athletics Department honored seniors
Andrea Antoni and
Kaylie Bruce who were playing in their final regular season home meet of their collegiate career.
The Bloodhounds travel to Cedar Crest College on Friday, January 29, at 7:00 pm for their final meet of the season.
