The baseball team lost to Western Connecticut State, 10-9, on Thursday afternoon in Danbury, CT. The Bloodhounds drop to 9-23 overall. The Colonials improve to 12-14.
Sophomore
Zach Hyde went 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Junior
Dylan Laudano finished 3-for-5 with a double. Sophomore
Brian Garcia was 2-for-5 with two RBI's and a run. Junior
Charlee Rodriguez knocked in two runs and stole a base.
John Jay got on the scoreboard in the top of the first with a run and tacked on another in the second. In the top of the third, the Bloodhounds pounded out four runs on four hits to increase its lead to 6-0.
Western Connecticut cut the deficit to four in the bottom of the inning. In the bottom of the fifth, the hosts plated two runs to trail 6-4. John Jay added to its lead in the next inning after scoring two runs. The Colonials fought back to tie the game 8-8 in the sixth inning.
The Bloodhounds regained the lead in the top of the seventh, 9-8. Unfortunately, Western Connecticut scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth to win by a final score of 10-9.
The Bloodhounds travel to Valley Forge, PA on Saturday, April 23, for a non-conference doubleheader starting at 10:00 am.
