The #3 baseball team was eliminated from postseason play following a 3-1 loss to #4 Lehman College on Saturday afternoon at the College of Staten Island. The Bloodhounds end the regular season with a 14-27 overall record, their best since the 2009 season.
The first three full innings were scoreless as both starting pitchers were locked in. In the bottom of the fourth, sophomore
Robert Moncino recorded an RBI double with two outs to give John Jay a 1-0 lead.
The Lightning responded right away in the top of the fifth with three runs. The Bloodhounds had a few chances but were unable to capitalize.
Senior
Matthew Quirindongo got the start and threw 4.2 innings, allowing three runs and struck out six. Sophomore
Christian Rodriguez pitched in relief and delivered 4.1 scoreless innings. Sophomores
Zach Hyde and Moncino, and freshmen
Brandon Thomas and
Jonathan Warasila all recorded hits for John Jay.
The game turned out to be the final one of

Nick Gioia,
Joe Jacobsen,
David Schildwachter,
Matthew Quirindongo,
Noel Sanchez, and
