The men's soccer team shutout Medgar Evers College, 1-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Randall's Island. The Bloodhounds improve to 2-7 overall and 1-1 in the conference. The Cougars drop to 2-4 and 1-2 in CUNYAC.
The first thirty minutes of play was even as both goalkeepers prevented the ball from hitting the back of the net. In the 34th minute, freshman
Aly Jahin scored his first collegiate goal on a pass from junior
Curtis Harbers to give the Bloodhounds a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. The visitors outshot John Jay 6-5.
In the second half, the Bloodhounds defense came up big and prevented two prime Cougar scoring opportunities. Junior Alexander Taliotis recorded the shutout after making eight saves.
The Bloodhounds travel to Manhattanville College on Saturday, September 24, for a non-conference match starting at 4:00 pm.
