Box Score A late goal in the second half propelled the #2 men's soccer team to a 2-1 win over #3 Brooklyn College on Saturday afternoon at Randall's Island. The Bloodhounds improve to 9-6-1 overall on the season. The Bulldogs end the season with a record of 9-8-2.

"The team showed a great sense of teamwork and resilience to overcome the difficulties that the game brought," head coach Ridi Dauti said. "It is the teamwork and resiliency that has helped us get this far."

John Jay got off to a fast start and in the sixth minute, freshman Nadder Munassar blasted a shot from outside the box past the goalkeeper for an early 1-0 lead. The Bloodhounds' defense played stellar in the first half to hold Brooklyn off the scoreboard. Senior Alexandros Taliotis made two saves in the first period. John Jay outshot the guests by a margin of 11-6.

The Bulldogs started intensifying the pressure in the second half. With 25 minutes remaining, the Bulldogs evened the score at 1-1. However, the Bloodhounds responded 13 minutes later. John Jay found a loose ball inside the visitors box and a Brooklyn defender inadvertently headed the ball into its own net to give the Bloodhounds a 2-1 advantage.

The Bulldogs increased their pressure but Taliotis made two key back-to-back saves with five minutes remaining to keep the score at 2-1. John Jay's defense continued clearing the zone and Taliotis was perfect as the Bloodhounds held on for a 2-1 victory.

Senior Alexis Bustillo finished with a game-high five shots and four shots on goal.

The Bloodhounds return to the CUNYAC Championship for the first time since 2006. John Jay will face off with #1 Lehman College on Saturday, November 4, at 2:00 pm at the College of Staten Island. The Bloodhounds will be looking for their first championship in program history.
