Koehler Scores 19 & Gorman Grabs 19 Rebounds in Women's Basketball's Loss to Lehman College

Box Score The women's basketball team fell to Lehman College, 70-36, on Tuesday evening at the Doghouse. With the loss, the Bloodhounds fall to 0-7 on the year and 0-2 in the conference. The Lightning improve to 5-2 and 2-0 in CUNYAC. 

Sophomore Kaitlin Koehler finished two rebounds shy of a double-double with a season-high and team-high 19 points and eight boards. Freshman Jessica Gorman grabbed a career-high and game-high 19 rebounds to go along with nine points and three steals. Senior Dana Nicholson added six points and three steals. Rookie Kayla Talbot had four rebounds and dished out a team-high two assists. 

With the Bloodhounds trailing 6-0, Koehler made two straight jumpers to cut the deficit to two. Lehman finished the quarter on a 15-3 run to lead 21-7. A three-pointer by Nicholson opened the second period and trimmed the lead down to 11. At the half, the Bloodhounds trailed 40-12. 

John Jay finished 12-for-54 (22.2%) from the floor, 1-for-16 (6.3%) from behind the arc, and 11-for-22 (50.0%) from the free-throw line.

Three minutes into the third the visitors increase their advantage to 53-12. John Jay outscored the Lightning by a margin of 13-10 in the final quarter. 

The Bloodhounds travel to Hunter College on Friday, December 8, for a conference match at 5:00 pm.
