Box Score 2 The #4 baseball team was eliminated from the CUNYAC postseason on Saturday at the College of Staten Island. The Bloodhounds lost to #2 Baruch College, 7-2, and then fell to #1 Staten Island, 6-1. John Jay ends the season with an overall record of 13-25.
In game one against the Bearcats, Baruch scored one in the second and two in the third. In the top of the fourth, senior
Charlee Rodriguez doubled and scored on an RBI ground out by sophomore
C.J. Meyer to cut the deficit to 3-1. The Bearcats responded plating a pair of runs in the fifth and eighth innings. In the last frame, sophomore
Brandon Thomas singled and junior
Zach Hyde drove him in with an RBI double to right field.
Freshman
Jared Hershfield got the start and threw five innings, allowing seven hits, three earned runs, and struck out four. Freshman
Danny Wynne pitched the final three innings. Rodriguez finished 3-for-3. Senior
Jason Gonzalez picked up two hits and Hyde had a double and stolen base.
In the elimination game against the Dolphins, John Jay got on the scoreboard in the first inning. Senior
R.J. Davila singled and later scored on a two-out RBI single through the left side by senior
Dylan Laudano. CSI tied the score in the second and took their first lead in the third with two runs. The Dolphins broke open the game in the bottom of the sixth with three runs.
Rodriguez got the nod and delivered 5.2 innings pitched. Junior
Joe Gregory came in to throw 2.1 scoreless innings. Davila went 2-for-4 with a run.
