Robledo & Vasquez's Two Goals Each Propels Women's Soccer to 4-0 Win Over Brooklyn

The women's soccer team shutout Brooklyn College, 4-0, in their CUNYAC opener on Wednesday afternoon at Randall's Island. The Bloodhounds improve to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Bulldogs drop to 0-4 and 0-1 in conference play.

John Jay got off to a fast start as freshman Kimberly Robledo blasted a shot right outside the box to give the Bloodhounds an early 1-0 lead. In the closing minute of the half, senior Kayla Talbot made a perfect cross to sophomore Camila Vasquez who buried it into the back of the net to give John Jay a 2-0 advantage heading into halftime.

The Bloodhounds outshot Brooklyn by a margin of 13-2. Senior Kelli Doherty made two saves in the period.

Seven minutes into the second half, Robledo registered her second goal of the season and fourth of the year on a loose ball inside the box. Roughly 20 minutes later, Vasquez netted her second of the game on a cross by senior Zola Campbell

John Jay recorded 20 shots and 15 shots on goal. Doherty picked up her third shutout of the year on three saves. Robeldo finished with five shots and four shots on goal. Talbat had three shots on goal.
