The men's soccer team defeated Hunter College, 1-0, in their conference opener on Saturday afternoon at Randall's Island. The Bloodhounds improve to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in CUNYAC. The Hawks drop to 0-6-1 and 0-1 in the conference.
The first half was even as Hunter outshot John Jay by a margin of 6-5. Senior
Alexandros Taliotis made two saves.
Three minutes into the second half, freshman
Mark Shnadshteyn broke loose on a breakaway and trickled the ball into the back of the net to give the Bloodhounds a 1-0 lead. It was the Richmond, NY natives sixth goal of the season. That was all John Jay needed as Taliotis made two saves in the second half to record his second shutout of the year.
The Bloodhounds travel to Ramapo College on Monday, September 18, for a non-conference match at 4:00 pm.
