Box Score The women's basketball team lost to York College, 64-42, on Wednesday evening at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds drop to 1-15 overall and 1-7 in CUNYAC. The Cardinals improve to 4-11 and 2-6 in the conference.
Sophomore
Kaitlin Koehler registered a career-high and game-high 27 points, eight rebounds, a team-high three steals, and a pair of assists. Junior
Aliya Lipton came off the bench to add seven points and four rebounds. Freshman
Jessica Gorman grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds and senior
Dana Nicholson dished out a team-high four assists.
York started the game scoring the first five points but a three by Koehler gave the Bloodhounds their first points of the game. With the Cardinals leading 10-9, the visitors went on an 8-0 run. At the end of the first, John Jay trailed 18-12.
Once again, York opened the period with five straight points. Koehler and Gorman made back-to-back layups to cut the deficit to 23-16. York increased its lead to 28-18 and ended the half on a 9-0 run to go into halftime holding a 37-18 advantage.
A layup by Koehler ninety seconds in cut the lead down to 21. Heading into the fourth, the Cardinals led 49-29. York outscored the Bloodhounds by a margin of 15-13 in the final period.
John Jay finished 15-for-73 (20.5%) from the field, 5-for-26 (19.2%) from behind the arc, and 7-for-12 (58.3%) from the free-throw line.
The Bloodhounds travel to the College of Staten Island on Saturday, January 20, for a conference game at 1:00 pm.
