Box Score The men's soccer team defeated Medgar Evers College, 2-0, on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at Randall's Island. The Bloodhounds improve to 3-7 on the year and 2-2 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Cougars drop to 0-9 and 0-5 in the conference.
In the 40th minute, junior
Michael DeMarco made a beautiful long pass to lead senior
Julien Roussel for a breakaway. The midfielder found the back of the net for his first goal of the season.
Three minutes later,
Mathias Lezcano was awarded a penalty shot after getting tripped in the box. The freshman converted for his first collegiate goal and increased the lead to 2-0.
John Jay outshot the Cougars by a margin of 9-6 in the first period. Sophomore
Steven Towler registered one save.
The second half went back-and-forth as both teams had scoring opportunities. S. Towler would end up recording his second shutout of the season after finishing with three saves.
Before the match, the Athletics Department honored seniors
Adam Aidara and
Talles Moreira, as part of Senior Day.
The Bloodhounds travel to York College on Wednesday, October 10, for a conference match at 4:30 pm at Detective Keith L. Williams Park in Jamaica, NY.
