The women's soccer team defeated Sarah Lawrence College, 2-1, on Monday afternoon at Randall's Island. The Bloodhounds improve to 7-4-1 on the season. The Gryphons drop to 4-4.
John Jay controlled much of the play in the first half but could not find the back of the net. The half went scoreless as the Bloodhounds outshot Sarah Lawrence 9-5. Freshman

Kimberly Robledo who buried it past the goalkeeper to give John Jay a 1-0 advantage. It was Robledo's eight goal of the year.
The Gryphons responded in the 55th minute to tie the score at one apiece. John Jay intensified the pressure and continued fired shots at all angles.
Just as regulation was expiring, sophomore
Mary Jo Anzano made a long pass to freshman
Gianna Russo who blasted it from outside the box into the far right corner for the game-winner. It was Russo's 10th goal and fourth game-winner of the season.
Shaneberger collected her seventh win of the season after finishing with five saves. John Jay recorded 24 shots with Russo leading the way with seven. Freshman
Lily Collins tallied a game-high five shots on goal.
