Women's Swimming Splits Season Opener in New Rochelle; Jenell Stott-Hodge Picks up First Head Coach Collegiate Win

RESULTS

The women's swim team split their opening tri-meet of the 2018-19 season on the campus of the College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, NY. The Bloodhounds defeated Queensborough Community College, 125-48, but fell to New Rochelle, 101-87. 

John Jay's first victory came in the seventh event, 200-yard IM, when freshman Maya Chedraoui placed first in her first collegiate meet in a time of 2:36.66. Two events later, sophomore Isabella Heitz recorded a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28.77. 

Chedraoui collected her second first-place finish when she swam the 200-yard breaststroke in 3:01.37. In the final event of the evening, 200-yard freestyle relay, the tandem of Jara, sophomore Nicole Pang, freshman Gabriela Reyes, and sophomore Isabella Heitz finished first with a time of 2:03.89. 

With the win over Queensborough CC, head coach Jenell Stott-Hodge notched her first victory as a collegiate head coach. 

The Bloodhounds travel to Brooklyn College for their first CUNYAC meet on Monday, November 19, at 6:00 pm.
