Box Score 2 The softball team swept Yeshiva University, 12-3 and 24-11, on Monday night on the campus of Fordham University in the Bronx. The Bloodhounds improve to 2-2 on the season. The Maccabees drop to 1-4.
In game one, freshman
Tommi Mandell continued her hot streak going 3-or-3 with three runs and an RBI. Sophomore
Jessica Barbaria went a perfect 2-for-2 with a double, game-high three RBI's, and three runs scored. Senior
Lisa Pellegrino recorded two hits and a pair of RBI's. Sophomore
Mariela Guzman finished 2-for-4 with a double, triple, two RBI's, and two runs. Sophomore
Ashley Quinones added two RBI's and freshman
AnneMarie Rivera swiped two bases.
In the circle, Pellegrino picked up the victory after logging 5.0 innings and allowing three runs and two walks. The right-hander struck out nine batters.
In the second game, Barbaria led the way going 3-for-5 with a double, a game-high four runs, and three RBI's. Pellegrino and Guzman combined to go 4-for-6 with five runs and four RBI's. Sophomore
Marissa Artz finished 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI's. A. Rivera drove in three runs and Mandell crossed home plate a game-high five times. Sophomore
Karen Rosario and freshman
Samantha Gresser had two hits and an RBI each.
A. Rivera recorded her first collegiate win after throwing six innings, allowing one walk while striking out seven.
The Bloodhounds travel to the College at Old Westbury on Tuesday, March 20, for a non-conference doubleheader starting at 3:00 pm.
