Softball Drops Pair at SUNY Old Westbury

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The softball team lost to SUNY Old Westbury, 12-4 and 17-2, on Tuesday afternoon in Old Westbury, NY. The Bloodhounds fall to 2-4 on the year. The Panthers improve to 4-0. 

In game one, senior Lisa Pellegrino knocked in freshman Tommi Mandell on an RBI single to put John Jay on the scoreboard. Old Westbury responded with two in the first and two in the second to lead 4-1. 

In the top of the third with two outs, Pellegrino doubled and scored on an RBI single by sophomore Mariela Guzman. Sophomore Ashley Quinones then singled to create first and second. Freshman AnneMarie Rivera followed with a two-run double to tie the game at four apiece. 

The Panthers broke open the game with eight runs in the bottom of the fourth. 

Pellegrino finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored. A. Rivera went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI's. 

In the second game, Old Westbury scored in each of the first four innings. John Jay scored its two runs on an RBI double by Quinones and an RBI single by Mandell. 

Quinones finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored. Mandell and Guzman picked up a stolen base each. 

The Bloodhounds host Hunter College on Friday, March 23, for a CUNYAC doubleheader at Randall's Island Field 16. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
