Baseball Sweeps Centenary University; Garcia & Osborne Combine for 9 RBI's

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The baseball team swept Centenary University, 11-5 and 13-8, on Saturday afternoon at Morristown Beard School in Morristown, NJ. The Bloodhounds improve to 5-10 on the year. The Cyclones drop to 6-7 overall. 

In game one, senior Ryan Osborne went 2-for-4 with a double and season-high four RBI's. William De La Cruz reached base five times via two hits and three walks. The junior also had a double and two RBI's. Junior Alexis Martinez and sophomore Sean Napier picked up two hits and two runs each. 

Senior Joe Gregory recorded his first win of the season after throwing five innings and allowing two earned runs. Freshman Nick Jack pitched the final two frames. 

John Jay opened the scoring in the first with a run. The Cyclones followed with three in the bottom half of the inning to lead by two. 

The Bloodhounds responded with nine unanswered runs as John Jay finished with 12 hits in a 11-5 victory. 

In game two, Garcia finished 3-for-5 with a career-high three triples, three RBI's, and two runs scored. Junior Steven Catuogno went 3-for-5 with a double and three runs. Osborne was 2-for-4 with his first homer as a Bloodhound and crossed home plate three times. Junior Jurrel Diaz registered his second home run of the season and finished with two RBI's. 

Sophomore Danny Wynne threw the final three innings and allowed two hits and one run. Diaz notched his first win of the year. 

John Jay scored five runs in the opening two frames. The hosts scored two in the bottom of the second but John Jay added another run in the third to go up 6-2. 

In the bottom of the third, the Cyclones plated three runs to cut the deficit to one. In the fifth, the Bloodhounds broke open the contest with seven runs on seven hits to complete the sweep by a final score of 13-8. 

The Bloodhounds travel to the College of Staten Island on Monday, April 2, for a conference doubleheader starting at 2:00 pm.
