Box Score The baseball team suffered a tough loss, 7-4, in a halted game on Tuesday afternoon in Purchase, NY. The Bloodhounds drop to 1-6 on the season. The Valiants improve to 2-1.
William De La Cruz went 2-for-2 with two RBI's and a run scored. Senior
Ryan Osborne picked up a hit, run scored, and stolen base. Senior
Joe Gregory got the start and threw 3.2 innings. Senior
Christian Rodriguez threw 1.1 scoreless innings in relief. Freshman
Nick Jack also delivered a scoreless inning.
John Jay opened the scoring in the top of the first as De La Cruz drove in sophomore
Sean Napier. Osborne scored the Bloodhounds' second run on an error. Manhattanville responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning.
In the top of the third, De La Cruz brought home Osborne on a sacrifice fly to tie the score at three apiece. The Valiants followed with three runs in the bottom half to lead 6-3. Manhattanville tacked on another run in the fourth to go up by four.
In the top of the fifth, De La Cruz and Meyer led off with back-to-back hits. With runners on second and third and one out, Moncino drove in De La Cruz with an RBI ground out to cut the deficit to 7-4.
In the seventh inning, John Jay scored four runs to take an 8-7 advantage. However, the game was halted due to darkness and the four runs were erased off the scoreboard.
The Bloodhounds will travel to Lancaster Bible College on Friday, March 9, for a non-conference game at 2:00 pm (weather permitting).
