Box Score 2 The baseball team swept Yeshiva University, 25-4 and 5-4, on Tuesday night at Overpeck Park in Ridgefield Park, NJ. The Bloodhounds improve to 10-13 on the season. The Maccabees drop to 3-16 overall.
In game one, senior
Brian Garcia went 2-for-3 with three RBI's, two runs, and a pair of stolen bases. Junior
Jurrel Diaz finished 2-for-5 with his fourth home run of the year. Senior
Robert Moncino picked up his first homer in 2018. Junior
Dylan Locke was 2-for-4 with four RBI's and three runs scored. Freshman Phil Bellomo went 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and three runs. Freshman
Connor Kilcarr came off the bench to go a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI's. Junior
Steven Catuogno went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs scored. Junior
Jeremy Scheetz and sophomore
Joe Desilvio added two RBI's each.
Sophomore
Jared Hershfield recorded his second win of the season after throwing five innings and allowing five hits and four runs (three earned) while striking out seven. Freshman
Nick Jack pitched two scoreless innings in relief.
In game two, Bellomo finished a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI's, two runs scored, and a stolen base. Sophomore
Danny Wynne registered an RBI and junior
William De La Cruz and Diaz picked up a hit and run apiece.
Garcia notched his first collegiate start and win after throwing four innings. The left-hander surrendered two hits and three runs (one earned) while striking out four. Locke made his pitching debut in the fifth inning to pick up the save.
John Jay scored four runs in the first four innings. In the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings, Yeshiva scored two runs each. With the bases loaded and the game-tying run at third in the fifth, Locke escaped a bases-loaded jam with a ground out.
The Bloodhounds face New York University on Wednesday, April 18, in a non-conference game at MCU Park at 3:30 pm.
