Box Score The baseball team fell to New York University, 13-4, on Wednesday afternoon at MCU Park in Brooklyn, NY. The Bloodhounds drop to 10-14 overall. The Violets improve to 22-7.
Senior
Brian Garcia finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and stolen base. Junior
Steven Catuogno went 2-for-4 with an RBI and stolen base. Junior
Jurrel Diaz was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI's. Freshman
Anthony Liriano picked up his first collegiate hit.
Sophomore
Joe Desilvio threw four innings in relief and allowed three hits and two runs (one earned). Freshman
Connor Kilcarr pitched an inning of scoreless relief.
NYU opened with four runs in the first. John Jay responded with four in the top of the second to tie the game. Garcia led off with a base hit to register his 100th career hit. With the bases loaded and one out, Diaz smacked a two-run double to cut the deficit to two. Catuogno followed with an RBI single and an error by the right fielder plated Diaz for John Jay's fourth run.
The Violets regained the lead in the bottom half with a run to go up 5-4. The hosts broke open the contest with six runs in the third enroute to their 22nd win of the season.
The Bloodhounds travel to Western Connecticut State on Thursday, April 19, for a non-conference game at 4:00 pm.
