Box Score Trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth, the Bloodhounds fought back to win a non-conference game on a walk-off, 6-5, on Thursday afternoon at Purchase, NY. The Bloodhounds improve to 6-10 on the season. The Panthers drop to 11-10.
Senior Ryan Osbrone recorded his second home run of the season via a walk-off two-run homer. Senior
William De La Cruz and junior
Steven Catuogno went 2-for-4 each. Sophomore
Sean Napier threw five shutout innings in relief to collect his second win of the season. Junior
C.J. Meyer picked up two RBI's and two runs. Senior
Brian Garcia reached base on three walks and also had two runs scored.
Purchase opened the game with a run in the first. The Bloodhounds responded in the bottom half as Garcia scored on a balk. In the top of the third, the Panthers scored a run to lead 2-1.
The guests added three in the fifth to hold a 5-1 advantage. In the bottom of the fifth, De La Cruz registered an RBI single and with two outs, Meyer came through with a two-out two-run single to center field to cut the deficit to 5-4.
Napier escaped a two-out jam with a man on third in the seventh as Osborne made a nice catch down the right field line to keep the score at 5-4.
In the bottom of the ninth, junior
Dylan Locke led off with a walk. Osborne then crushed a fastball over the left field fence to give John Jay a 6-5 walk-off win.
The Bloodhounds travel to the College of Staten Island on Sunday, April 8, for a conference doubleheader starting at noon.
