Box Score MEDFORD, MA - The women's tennis team's historic season came to an end on Friday afternoon when they lost to #11 MIT, 5-0, in the opening round of the NCAA tournament at Tufts University.
"It was great to see the women back in action at NCAA's," head coach
Juan Andrade said. "The competition was fierce, we performed well, and will keep looking to improve and be back next year."
Make their first NCAA appearance in program history, the Bloodhounds fought all match long until the match was decided.
At number two doubles, the duo of freshmen
Gabriela de Armas and
Gabrielle Schuck won two games but fell by a final score of 8-2.
At number two singles, junior
Rageene Berry lost the first set but was able to come out with three games.
It was a special season for John Jay, who concludes the season with an 11-4 record, as the squad won its first CUNYAC championship in program history.
This match turned out to be the final one of
Gabriela de Armas,
Rageene Berry,
Rachael Clemons,
Dominique Dawkins, and
Bernarda Reyes' collegiate careers. The Athletics Department wishes them the best of luck in the future!
