RESULTS
The women's swimming team finished the regular season with a 116-87 victory against Lehman College on Friday evening in the Bronx. The Bloodhounds conclude the year with an overall record of 5-6 and 3-3 in the conference. It was John Jay's most wins since the 2015-16 season. The Lightning finish 5-8 and 2-4 in CUNYAC.
The night started off with a first-place finish when the tandem of freshman
Gabriela Reyes, sophomore
Nicole Pang, freshman
Leila Espinal, and junior
Giovanna Jara swam the 200 medley relay in a time of 2:36.92.
Jara then collected her second win and first individual when she finished the 200 free in 2:42.42. Heitz followed with top finishes in the 50 free (28.08) and 100 free (1:02.05).
Reyes then recorded her first first-place individual finish when she competed in the 100 back in a time of 1:23.35. Jara picked up her third victory of the meet in the 500 free (7:29.87).
In the last individual race, freshman
Maya Chedraoui registered nine points after swimming the 100 breast in 1:25.00. In the final event of the night, the group of Heitz, Pang, senior
Mavis Ma, and Chedraoui placed first in the 200 free relay with a time of 2:00.98.
The Bloodhounds will travel to Puerto Rico on Monday, January 21, for a week-long training trip. When the squad returns to the Upper West Side, they will gear up for the CUNYAC Championship that begins on Friday, February 1, at 4:00 pm at Lehman College.
