The rifle team registered a pair of victories in the season opener against Plattsburgh State in Plattsburgh, NY. The Bloodhounds won in air rifle, 2190-2092, and in smallbore, 2045-2042.
In air, junior
Michael Hyde led the way for John Jay with a team-high score of 563. Finishing right behind was senior
Eliza Kotowska with a 558. In his first collegiate match, freshman
Eric Lopez fired a 556. Sophomore
Izadora Zetola placed fourth for John Jay after shooting a 513.
In smallbore, Hyde finished first for the Bloodhounds and second overall after registering a 533. Kotowska placed second with a score of 527. Rounding out the top four were Lopez (515) and Zetola (470).
The Bloodhounds travel to Cambridge, MA on Saturday, October 26 to take on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
