After making program history, the women's soccer team appeared in the NCAA DIII tournament for the first time on Saturday afternoon in Ewing, NJ. The Bloodhounds lost to The College of New Jersey by a final score of 8-0. John Jay closes the 2019 season with a program-best record of 12-7-1 (5-0 in CUNYAC).
TCNJ had scoring chances in the first 12 minutes but sophomore
Brittany Shaneberger made back-to-back-to-back point-blank saves to keep the match scoreless.
The hosts scored a pair of goals in the 15th and 20th minutes, respectively. At the half, John Jay trailed 4-0. Shaneberger finished with four saves in the period.
The Lions scored four goals in the second half to go on for the victory. Junior
Erika Estro made a season-high and game-high six saves in the final forty-five minutes. Freshman
Jillian Golden registered a team-high two shots.
The Bloodhounds finish the season with its first CUNYAC Title and an NCAA appearance in school history.
