The women's soccer team collected their first shutout of the 2019 season when they blew by Sarah Lawrence, 6-0, on Wednesday night at Fleming Field in Yonkers, NY. The Bloodhounds get back to .500 on the season, improving to 3-3. The Gryphons drop to 4-2 overall.
John Jay got off to a fast start when sophomore
Katie Healy tallied her fourth goal of the season off a cross inside the box. Eight minutes later, sophomore
Anneliese Tucci found the back of the net off a free kick to give the Bloodhounds a 2-0 lead. With 15 minutes remaining in the half, rookie
Jillian Golden netted her fourth goal of the year to put John Jay ahead 3-0.
The Bloodhounds outshot the Gryphons by a margin of 13-4 in the period. Sophomore
Brittany Shaneberger made four saves through the first forty-five minutes.
Three minutes into the second half, freshman
Alexandra Dadario scored on a 1-on-1 to increase the lead to four. Junior
Kimberly Robledo and senior
Medina Mulic recorded the fifth and sixth goals, respectively. It was Mulic's first goal of her Bloodhound career.
Robledo finished with a goal and a pair of assists while Mulic had one goal and an assist. Senior
Mary Jo Anzano registered an assist. Shaneberger collected her first win and shutout of the season after tallying six saves.
The Bloodhounds open conference play on Saturday, September 21, when they host Brooklyn College at 10:30 am at Randall's Island Field 10.
