Women's Swim Fights Hard But Loses at Lehman College

The women's swimming team fell to Lehman College, 116-87, on Thursday evening in the Bronx. The Bloodhounds drop to 3-4 on the year and 2-3 in the conference. The Lightning improve to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in CUNYAC. 

John Jay's first victory came in the second event, the 1000 free, when sophomore Alexi Achtyl placed first in 13:40.91. In the next event, sophomore Michaela Marmorato finished in first in the 200 free with a time of 2:35.52. 

Freshman Monique Souza continued her winning ways when she took home first place in the 100 free in 1:02.62. Freshman Julia Grossman followed to record a first-place finish in the 500 free in a time of 6:43.53. 

In the final scoring event of the night, the tandem of Achtyl, Grossman, sophomore Natalie Rizo, and Souza placed first in the 200 free relay when they touched in 2:05.14. 

The Bloodhounds travel to Newburgh, NY on Saturday, January 18, when they take on Mount St. Mary College at 1:00 pm.
