Rifle Drops Match at Naval Academy in NCAA Qualifier

The rifle team fell to the United States Naval Academy in the NCAA Qualifier on Saturday afternoon in Annapolis, MD. The Bloodhounds lost in air rifle, 2369-2171, and in smallbore, 2316-2070. 

In the air discipline, junior Michael Hyde led the Bloodhounds with a team-high score of 560. Finishing right behind in second was freshman Eric Lopez firing a 557, a personal best for the rookie shooter. Senior Eliza Kotowska followed with a 556 and freshman Leonard Lao rounded out the four with a score of 498. 

In smallbore, Hyde once again was John Jay's top finisher registering a 546. Placing second was Kotowska with a score of 530. Lopez recorded a 511 and Lao finished with a personal-best 483, a 25-point increase from his previous career-high. 

The Bloodhounds gear up for the MAC Rifle Championship on Saturday, March 7, on the campus of MIT in Cambridge, MA. John Jay will be looking for a school-record 15th championship.
