The rifle team fell to the United States Naval Academy in the NCAA Qualifier on Saturday afternoon in Annapolis, MD. The Bloodhounds lost in air rifle, 2369-2171, and in smallbore, 2316-2070.
In the air discipline, junior
Michael Hyde led the Bloodhounds with a team-high score of 560. Finishing right behind in second was freshman
Eric Lopez firing a 557, a personal best for the rookie shooter. Senior
Eliza Kotowska followed with a 556 and freshman
Leonard Lao rounded out the four with a score of 498.
In smallbore, Hyde once again was John Jay's top finisher registering a 546. Placing second was Kotowska with a score of 530. Lopez recorded a 511 and Lao finished with a personal-best 483, a 25-point increase from his previous career-high.
The Bloodhounds gear up for the MAC Rifle Championship on Saturday, March 7, on the campus of MIT in Cambridge, MA. John Jay will be looking for a school-record 15th championship.
