The rifle team competed in three conference matches over the weekend starting in Mount Vernon, NY on Friday and then traveling up to Cambridge, MA on Saturday. The Bloodhounds defeated Schreiner University on Friday, 2221-2109. John Jay then fell to MIT in air, 2239-2162, and in smallbore, 2143-2029.
In the match against Schreiner, senior
Eliza Kotowska led all shooters with a personal-best score of 576. Junior
Michael Hyde fired a 570, cracking the 570 threshold for the first time in his career. Freshman
Eric Lopez finished with a 544, followed by sophomore
Izadora Zetola registering a 531.
In the match against MIT, Hyde continued his impressive weekend recording a personal-best 574 in air rifle and personal-high score of 551 in smallbore. Lopez finished in second for John Jay in air rifle with a 550. Freshman
Leonard Lao recorded a personal-best 487 in smallbore, a 45-point increase for the rookie.
The Bloodhounds travel to the United States Naval Academy on Saturday, February 22, for the NCAA Qualifier.
