Dear John Jay College Community,
Protecting the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff is our highest priority. In recent weeks, we have seen a further acceleration of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the renewed pain and heartbreak we are facing as a country. In the midst of these uncertainties, we continue to be guided by the city and state officials and CUNY. It is difficult now to share with you that, in accordance with CUNYAC's decision, we will not be participating in intercollegiate athletic competitions during the 2020 fall semester.
We will continue to support our student-athletes and their academic success. For the spring semester this year, John Jay Bloodhounds achieved a six-year graduation rate over 80%, an average GPA of 3.45, and a cumulative GPA of 3.25, including 41 student-athletes who earned a 4.0 semester GPA. Additionally, the Bloodhounds earned three championships and had several teams vie for championships. We celebrate the outstanding efforts of all our student athletes.
We look forward to the day when our Bloodhounds can return to competition and share their amazing talents in the athletic arena. We will continue to update the campus community as needed and when additional information becomes available. Our coaches will stay in touch with our student-athletes. In the meantime, please stay safe and take care of one another.
Thanks for your understanding and cooperation with this decision.
- Mark Francis
Interim Director of Athletics
