NEW YORK, NY -- The men's soccer team's season came to an end on Wednesday afternoon, as the Bloodhounds lost to the CCNY Beavers, 2-1, at Randall's Island in the CUNYAC Quarterfinals.
John Jay came out of the gate strong, as sophomore
Maksym Ivanov found the back of the net in the ninth minute after freshman
Kevin Luciano found Ivanov with a beautiful through ball. The Bloodhound offense kept up the pace for the majority of the first half, but the Beavers scored two goals, just two minutes before halftime, to take the lead and steal momentum.
John Jay fought hard and never gave up, and almost tied the game on multiple occasions in the second half. After a foul in the 62', a Luciano shot off the free kick hit the crossbar and, just a minute later, a header from sophomore
Samson Marwieh also hit the crossbar. Freshman
Justin Gharbin also had a good chance in the 85' minute but his shot was just high, narrowly tying the game. In the end, the Beavers were able to hang on and emerge victorious.
Freshman
Tyler Solis had a great game with three saves on the day. The Bloodhounds outshot CCNY in the match, 11-8, and also had a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Bloodhounds conclude the season with a 3-11 record.
