New York, N.Y. – Tom Doherty and Justin Stewart have both been promoted to full-time in the athletics department, Deputy Director of Athletics Cat Alves announced.

"We are delighted to welcome Tom and Justin to the full-time ranks at John Jay Athletics," Alves stated. "Their commitment, professionalism, and team-oriented approach makes our entire department stronger."

Doherty will continue to serve in the same role as the department's Business Manager with added responsibility.

"I greatly appreciate the opportunity to be part of the athletic staff on a full-time basis," said Doherty. "I would like to thank Cat Alves and those who made it possible. With the great staff and coaches within the John Jay Athletics Department, and with the support of the College, the athletic department and their student-athletes will shine brightly into the future."

Doherty manages the business operations of the department, including requisitions, payments, credit card reconciliations, budget preparation, and financial reporting. In his new full-time capacity, he will coordinate all office operations, team travel, space rental invoicing, and revenue reconciliation.

"Tom has a diverse set of experiences that adds tremendous value to our business operations," Alves explained. "In addition, he never hesitates to lend a hand in other areas, including the launch of our Esports program. Tom's many contributions will help bring the Bloodhounds to the next level."

Also known as "Stewie" by the John Jay College community, Stewart will now serve as the Game Day Operations Manager after previously working as the assistant equipment manager and game day supervisor.

"I am excited to become a full-time staff member but also excited for the road ahead," said Stewart. "As always, I look to help our department grow and trend in the right direction along with all the other members of our department. I also look forward to learning and growing as a professional. This is a major moment in my young career and I am thankful to all the members of the athletics department who helped make this happen."

In his new and expanded role, he will serve as the on-site administrator and supervisor for home indoor and outdoor athletics competitions. Stewie will also be in charge of hiring, training, and supervising event staff and work study. Additionally, he will secure permits for outdoor competitions and send pre-game communications to opponents and officials.

"Justin has had a tremendous impact on our department from his first days as a student worker several years ago to this point," stated Alves. "There is not a single area of our department that Justin has not made a positive and meaningful impression. This promotion is well deserved. I am ecstatic to support Justin's professional development with the Bloodhounds."

"Stewie is one of the nicest and most well known individuals on the John Jay campus," Associate AD Brandon Fieland said. "That is why we refer to him as the 'Mayor'. I am looking forward to working with Stewie as he transitions into this new role. He has always been a hard and smart worker and always brings a positive attitude no matter the situation."
