New York, N.Y. – Steve Speedling has been named as John Jay College's Assistant Sports Information Director, Associate Athletics Director for Media Relations
Brandon Fieland announced.
"We are thrilled to welcome Steve to the Bloodhound family," Fieland stated. "Steve's enthusiasm and passion for sports information and media relations was noticed immediately during the hiring process. He is truly a rising star in the business and spoken very highly of. His extensive experience will bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to John Jay College while elevating many areas within media relations."
Speedling spent the last six years working as an assistant sports information director at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY where he served as the primary media contact for 14 of the department's 22 Division I sports. He graduated from Marist College with a bachelor's degree in communications in 2019, and went on to complete his master's degree in integrated marketing communication in 2021.
"I couldn't be happier to be joining the John Jay family," Speedling said. "I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to grow my career at John Jay within the industry I am very passionate about. I can't thank Brandon and Cat enough for the opportunity they have provided me, and I am looking forward to getting to work!"
Speedling has also worked with the Hudson Valley Renegades, now the High-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, since 2013 where he has operated as the MLB advanced media game day statistician, official scorer, and scoreboard operator. In 2018, Speedling was chosen as a representative of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference to travel to Belfast, Northern Ireland to keep all tournament statistics for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic.
