MILTON, NY -- For the first time in 687 days, the men's and women's cross country teams ran in a meet. The Bloodhounds participated in the Mount Saint Mary College Invitational on Sunday morning. Both teams did not record a team score.
In the women's race, freshman
Maria Guadarrama led the Bloodhounds in her first collegiate meet. The rookie was John Jay's top finisher, placing 13th overall in a time of 28:59. The other Bloodhound to run was freshman
Lorraine Gonzalez who finished in 64th with a time of 43:32.
In the men's race, freshman
Joseph Valiente led the way in a time of 37:55, good for an 81st place finish. Junior
Aneal Mahabir (45:12) and sophomore
Daryl Cheryl (45:15) finished in 110th and 111th, respectively. Rounding out the top four was sophomore
Ryan Quach (50:03, 116th place).
The Bloodhounds will travel to Newark, NJ on Saturday, October 2, for the New Jersey Institute of Technology Invitational. The race will begin at 11:00 am.
