Dylan Laudano has been named Athletics Operations Assistant, Deputy Director of Athletics
Cat Alves announced. In addition, interim head coach
Ryan Osborne has added Laudano to his coaching staff for the 2021-22 season.
"In a year when we need to be ready to pivot to meet the needs of our student-athletes, coaches, staff, and campus community, it is great to know we have expanded our operations staff with the addition of Dylan," Alves said. "His contributions will provide valuable support to our facility, game day, and office operations."
In his operations role, Laudano will be responsible for facilities, storage maintenance, and van maintenance. He will also provide game day assistance to
Justin Stewart and
Ryan Osborne as well as be available for event and special staff event support.
"Being hired in the John Jay Athletics Department is such an honor," said Laudano. "To be able to work for the department that gave me so much during my four years here as a student-athlete is amazing, and I'm excited to get started. I'm happy I get to give back to the department and hopefully continue to make it the best athletics department in New York City."
On the baseball side, Laudano will assist
interim head coach Ryan Osborne with day-to-day operations as well as lead the Bloodhounds offense.
"Being hired as an assistant baseball coach is amazing," Laudano added. "When I was a player, I always said when I got older I'd love to coach and give back to the game that gave me so much and made me into the person I am today. Being able to start my coaching career at my alma mater means so much to me. I can't wait to get on the field and get started and hopefully be able to impact a lot of kids lives, as well as help prepare them for their futures in or out of baseball, and in everyday life."
Laudano was a four-year student-athlete for the program. The catcher finished his career with a whopping .350 batting average with 107 hits, 26 doubles, six homers, 73 runs batted in, 62 runs scored, and 44 walks. In his junior and senior seasons, he finished with a .372 and .366 average, respectively. The right-hander was a two-time CUNYAC all-star, two-time Team MVP, Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Baseball All-Metro First Team All-Star, ABCA/Rawlings All-New York Region Third Team All-Star, & D3baseball.com All-New York Region Third Team All-Star.
"The program is taking big steps in the right direction," said Osborne. "Hiring a guy with Dylan's background is a great plus. Not only was he a conference all-star and all-region player for the John Jay baseball program, he also has independent professional baseball experience. He will do great things with our hitters and the rest of the team. I am excited to have him onboard and help start his coaching career."
