Rifle Puts Together Huge Weekend Up North Against Trio of Opponents

CAMBRIDGE, MA - The John Jay rifle team had a huge weekend up north. On Saturday, the Bloodhounds competed in both guns against Norwich University, where the team split the day. Then, on Sunday John Jay squared off against SUNY Plattsburgh and MIT in Massachusetts, where the Bloodhounds came out victorious in both guns. 

Against Norwich on Saturday, John Jay came up just short in the small bore match, 2105-2089. Eric Lopez shot a 553, the highest score in the match and a new personal best. Quinn Hennessey also shot a personal best with a score of 542. The Bloodhounds were able to earn a big win in the airgun, beating Norwich 2200-2093. Danny Canning lead the way with a match-high score of 560. 

On Sunday, The Bloodhounds defeated both MIT and Plattsburgh in both the airgun and small bore. John Jay's total score was 4339, while MIT scored 4271 and Plattsburgh totaled 3778. Eric Lopez once again lead the way with a score of 549 in the small bore. Quinn Hennessey was second with 537, and Marwa Morsi shot a new personal best with a score of 524. In the airgun, Danny Canning had a match-high score of 563 which matched his personal best. Eric Lopez also tied his personal best with a score of 558. Natalia Alegarbes scored 544. 

Next up for the John Jay rifle team is a small bore match against SUNY Maritime on Saturday, November 19. Then, the Bloodhounds will host Maritime for an airgun match on December 3.
